New shower doors and mirrors brighten any bathroom. Want a simple way to give your bathroom a new look? The addition of a glass shower door and a new mirror will make a dramatic difference. Plus, there are a number of design options to choose from to fit your style, whether it’s sleek contemporary, folksy country, or classic antique.
There are two types of shower doors: framed and frameless. A framed shower door should match the hardware in the bathroom. Typically that would be silver or bronze, but there are many additional choices such as brushed nickel, sterling, and oil-rubbed bronze.
Frameless doors are made with heavy (thicker) glass. These doors can be more expensive but they allow more unique design options.
All shower doors are made of tempered glass. Clear glass makes the bathroom look more open and spacious. For more privacy, the glass can be etched in one of a number of different patterns. Heavy glass offers the greatest range of etching choices.
Mirrors create the illusin of space and light in a bathroom. Choices include raw or beveled edges, or molding around all or part of the mirror. Ideally you will want to choose the largest mirror that fits the available space. Holes can be cut into the glass to accommodate light or plumbing fixtures. To ensure safety, be certain the mirror is mounted securely with adhesive or brackets to a wallpaper-free wall.
